August 19 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Picture of a framed poster of a knotboard. Displays an old fashioned sailboat at center and pictures of different types of nautical knots around the outside in five columns.

Knots are used for sailing, rock climbing, camping, trucking, boating, fishing, surgery, decorating and many more different activities. They can be made from a variety of different materials such as rope, cord, twine, yarn, and thread. Participants will each receive a 3’ piece of sailboat line to learn knots and to take home to practice knots they have learned. Kids will be taken onto the Lightship Overfalls to learn some basic knots and to see how and where they are used on a ship.

This program is for kids 5yrs and up where they will learn to tie knots on their “pet rope” and be taken aboard the Historic Lightship Overfalls to learn about how and where knots are used on a real ship

PLEASE NOTE: CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT/CARETAKER THAT REMAINS WITH THEM AT THESE EVENTS
