USCG Motor Lifeboat Restoration

On Friday, February 27^th at 12:00 noon, the Overfalls Foundation will welcome the Cape May Maritime Museum as they tell the story of the restoration of their Coast Guard motor lifeboat. In 2018, the Maritime Museum began their restoration project on this wooden lifeboat originally constructed in 1952. The motor lifeboat (CG-36538) served the New York and New Jersey coast until her retirement in 1972. This is the same style lifeboat that rescued 32 sailors from the stricken tanker Pendleton off Cape Cod in 1952. That rescue was dramatized in the 2016 film The Finest Hours, starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck. Join us at the Net House in Lewes for this free program.
